This dessert is an exercise in the sweet, sinful nostalgia of childhood for anyone who grew up in America during the past thirty years or so.
Ingredients
16 graham crackers
4 (7-ounce) bars of good-quality milk chocolate, halved
16 marshmallows, halved
Instructions
1. Prepare the sandwiches: Each consists of 2 graham crackers with half a chocolate bar and 4 marshmallow halves in between.
2. Cover the grill rack with a piece of aluminum foil large enough to hold all the sandwiches. (The fire should be fairly low by this point, as chocolate needs to be melted quite slowly; the aluminum foil will also protect the chocolate from scorching, which ruins its flavor.) Place the sandwiches on the foil, cover the grill, and cook until the chocolate and marshmallows are melted through, 4 to 5 minutes. Serve hot with vanilla ice cream.
