Many years ago I read, or at least tried to reach, The Power of Now by Eckart Tolle. Just as the name implies, the philosophy is simple, live in the moment, don’t look back, don’t look forward, all you have is the present. Simple to comprehend: not so simple to put into practice. With The Awakening, the message isn’t very dissimilar to The Power of Now, but the approach is easier to read and understand. Living in the moment and enjoying the present requires work to grow consciously to a place where such philosophy comes into practice, not just words. Some get there quicker than others; for some it’s the result of years of self-evaluation, for others, a shift in consciousness happens as the result of a catastrophic illness or life event. Whatever the reason, just by picking up this book and delving into the text, you’re already on the path to true personal growth and real happiness. One last bit of advice, read the last chapter first, it summarizes the teachings and makes for a better read.
