| Welcome to the world of glamping (that is, camping + glamour). If you haven’t yet discovered the hottest trend in alternative luxury honeymoon accommodations, listen up. Forget huge hotels or sprawling resorts. If you are seeking an intimate, secluded, get-away-from-it-all locale for your honeymoon, the newest in tricked out tents is where it’s at. Inside, they offer all the amenities of five-star properties, but outside they make such a temporary and low-impact mark on the environment that they can be set up on some of the most scenic, remote and breathtaking spots on earth.
Here are three of my favorite “glamping” destinations:
Big Sky Country. Set on 37,000 acres in the wilds of Montana (where the 1992 Brad Pitt flick A River Runs Through It was shot) is Paws Up, the ultimate luxury tent adventure property in the U.S. There are just 24 specially fashioned tents situated to offer panoramic vistas, ultra privacy and amenities like outdoor hot tubs and 300 thread-count linens. Paws Up even has two restaurants on site—but don't worry about over-indulging, you can easily work it off on their 120-plus miles of trails.
Jungle Love. Don’t be surprised if you spot a tiger at the Ranthamabore National Park in Rajasthan, India. Seeing some of the best wildlife on earth is one of the reasons you visit India’s renowned refuge and its luxury tent property Khem Villas. It is also wildly romantic, with a plunge pool, tents with outdoor showers and a nightly campfire for all the guests. By day, the property is well-situated for visits to three ancient Hindu temples, monuments and pavilion ruins—when you’re not getting an ayurvedic massage or going on game drives.
Love Triangle. Want a tent dolled up to the highest standards? Take leave to northern Thailand where you’ll find The Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle. This property, located west of Laos and south of Burma, offers honeymooners secluded panoramic views of Burma’s Ruak River and Laos’ mountains at sunrise, a trek with elephants in the morning, an afternoon dip in your private hot tub, then a choice of dinner at one of four gourmet establishments set up throughout the camp.
As always...more to come!
