Michael Vaughn's Tips:
Know your hair. You know best if your hair looks better after a few days of wear and no wash versus super clean and fluffy that may not stay set when it's put up. Glosses and treatments can have a beneficial effect on "bulking" hair up for the day and bringing it into the condition that it needs to be in that day. Tell your stylist; communicate what works for you and what doesn’t.
Don’t listen to others. You will undoubtedly get 20 different answers from 20 friends and relatives. They all have an opinion on how your hair should look. Try to keep as few trends as possible involved when deciding. Most of all do your homework with hair trials and trust whom you’ve selected.
Don't surprise the groom. Go for “beautiful” that day and have your stylist enhance your best features, not remake you into someone you’re not. Your wedding is not the time for a severe haircut or too much of a "new" look that is shocking to you and your groom. Better to play it safe than be sorry when you look back at your pictures after your honeymoon, or 20 years later. Instead, have your hair cut and colored a week or two before your wedding day and a trim and touch up if needed a day or two before.
It’s all or nothing, not a little of both! Instead of the half up, half down which always seemed unsure to me, decide which looks best and flatters your face. When your hair is up, it is much more dramatic and your facial features really pop; think runway. If left down, it is all about the blow dry or set; shiny, sexy, moving, and together.
Don’t forget the accessories for added elegance! Extremely advanced today and beautifully constructed, the options are endless when it comes to hair accessories. Overall, don’t overdue it. Simple and tasteful is always better, and in this case, less is often more.
Extensions can do the trick. They’ll give you the ability to immediately add length and thickness to shorter and finer hair. Consider whether you’d prefer semi-permanent (3-4 months and lasts through the honeymoon) or a quick-fix solution for just the wedding day.
Ensure your hair and make-up artists are on the same page. Do a trial run before your wedding day. Don’t wait until you’re about to walk down the aisle to see what you’ll actually look like. After all it’s the total picture with your dress, veil, jewels and accessories that create your wedding look. Your hair and make-up are important pieces of the whole. Be confident that when you walk down the runway your entire look looks pulled together.
