MATT BLUM PHOTOGRAPHY

When friends of mine were getting married in the Bahamas and asked for help, I jumped right in. It was a great party; I made some wonderful new friends and by luck met Matt Blum who was hired to photograph the celebration. Afterwards, Matt kindly sent some of his images to my office for me to look at, but we didn’t connect until after he shot another friend of mine's wedding in Mauritius. When he sent the wedding album to my girlfriend and she saw his work, she rightly suggested he get in touch with my office. Matt emailed some of the shots of her wedding to me in NYC and as soon as I opened the attachment I knew Matt has a talented eye, and equally important he knows how to tell the story.

Matt’s work is crisp, energetic, and emotional. His passion and energy can be felt in every shot. He’s been kind enough to take the time and meet the different party producers in my LA and NY office and they all felt the same as I did. We’re looking forward to our next opportunity for us to work together again.


      

Matt Blum’s Photography Tips:

• Do your research. Make sure you relate well with your photographer’s style and personality. You should get a sense of your photographer’s unique artistic vision when you look at his/her portfolio, but you should also get a sense that you’ll be able to click well with the person behind the camera.
• Relax. We want to see your eyes and sometimes that means we’ll want to make more dramatic portraits. Trust us. A photographer’s goal is to find the best version of you and preserve it! We believe that the best smile is one that needs no prompting.
• Love! Celebrate! Eat, drink, sing, dance! It is so fun for us to document you interacting with your guests and each other. Love is what makes your wedding special. We can’t explain it, but we can see it. We’re all about human interaction.
• Are you photographing at home? Good equipment is important. Having a good lens and camera body is like cooking with fresh, organic ingredients: it might be more expensive, but the results are better!
• Water. Bring a bottle of water with you wherever you go on your wedding day. Hydrated skin is beautiful skin.
