ELIOT HOLTZMAN PHOTOGRAPHY

Every celebration has its own spirit, and when you hire the right photographer to capture that energy on film, it allows you to relive each moment and bring the party alive again and again. Eliot Holtzman does just that; he uses a combination of photographic styles that blend together the warmth and intimacy of good portraiture as well as the spontaneity and truth of good photojournalism. Having Eliot at your wedding or party is as if a family friend were taking the photographs and not a hired photographer. Without question, Eliot is an artist with a well-trained eye; you can feel his passion in each picture. He’s an expert at capturing emotions, and he understands how to mix black and white imagery to tell the story with strength and meaning; from the beauty of a bride walking down the aisle, to vibrant colors of the flower arrangements in the room, the table settings, the room décor, and even the excitement of that very first dance. Eliot's work captures all the feelings and emotions that make each celebration so special, and for that, I’m eternally grateful to have had the pleasure of working with such a wonderful talent.

Tips from Eliot

  • The world is a photo studio. My clients have found what I call family journal sessions wonderfully rewarding. A family journal is a photographic record of a day or a few days in the life of a family or friends enjoying one another at a place that means a lot to them. If your family vacations at a favorite place or at a second home, have a photographer come with you for part of the time to capture the feeling of that place and the lives of the people you love.
  • Artistically printed photographs give us the magic of photography in a way that images on a screen can’t. I feel that a great part of the craft of photography lies in the finished products. That’s why I offer my clients finished prints, matting, and framing. If you have professional photographs taken, find the rare photographer who takes the time to print and finish your photographs.
  • If you take lots of digital pictures yourself, don’t forget to have them printed. Everyone still loves a traditional family album.
  • Set up a casual portrait session of you and your fiancé before your wedding. When people ask me to be their wedding photographer, I suggest we do a portrait session beforehand. This way, we get to know one another before the big day arrives and learn about what works best for us. I encourage you to do the same when you think you’ve found your photographer. You’ll be more comfortable being photographed when your wedding day arrives and happier with your photographs.
  • It’s a myth that you should wear more makeup when you’re being photographed. However, before your wedding or other special event, it’s a great idea to have photographs taken with your hair and makeup done the way you’ve planned, to make sure you are happy with how you look. In the end, I tell my clients, you want to be you at your best.
