Yusef Austin is a master mixologist skilled in crafting some of the most delicious drinks I've ever tasted. We met years ago in Miami at a party I was hosting that he was tending bar. As I approached, he handed me a glass and said "try this!" I was immediately hooked and called some friends over to try it also. And that was the beginning of our relationship and he's since crafted cocktails for many of my clients; all to complete satisfaction.


      


Yusef Austin's Tips:

  • Start with the freshest juices, premium spirits, and great glassware. You can find fresh juice at your local organic/farmers market. Or, you can buy fresh fruits and juice them at home. This might sound like a daunting process but you can find any juicer at your local Bed Bath and Beyond or Wal Mart. For this you will need a strainer and some large pitchers. Batching all ingredients is key to any social gathering. COMBINING all the juices, spirits, and spices and herbs saves you time and allows you to taste the product before all the guests arrive to know that it is a top quality product for you guests to enjoy.
  • Prep all your syrups and juices and sometimes garnishes the night before. This way you can batch all the necessary ingredients and let sit over night for a more enriched elixir as if preparing a soup. The longer it settles the more flavorful it will be.
  • Have a theme to your party. You can source beautiful and exotique ice molds. Funky and colorful pitchers to have your cocktails batched in. Beautiful and tasty garnishes. Any time you have a theme you can create accordingly to make any cocktail party rock.
  • Pair all your food with the cocktails. Wine spritzers and shellfish. Tart Cocktails with spicy sausages. Sweet fruity elixirs with spring rolls.
  • Last but not least. Use all spirits. Don’t be afraid to use tequila, gin, vodka, bourbon, whisky, and rums. The more you explore and try different spirits the happier you will be and your guests experience.
